Fourth pillar of Islam : Zakat
What is Zakat?
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is mandatory for every Muslim who is financially stable, to pay zakat to the poor and needy. Zakat is an act of worship that every Muslim should perform to help the underprivileged Muslims. In the Quran, zakat is discussed a number of times.
And maintain the prayer and give the zakat. Any good that you send ahead for your souls, you shall find it with Allah. Indeed Allah sees best what you do. (Quran 2:110)
He has blessed me no matter where I dwell, commanded me to worship Him and pay the religious tax for as long as I live.(Quran 19:31)
The true believers, both men and women, are protectors of one another. They enjoin what is just and forbid what is evil; they establish Salah, pay Zakah, and obey Allah and His Messenger. It is they on whom Allah will have His mercy; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise. (Quran 9 : 71)
The believers have succeeded: those who are humbly focused in their prayer; who turn away from meaningless activities; who give Zakat; [Quran 23 : 1 - 4]

[Sahih al-Bukhari 1476]
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Anyone whom Allah has given wealth but he does not pay its Zakat, then, on the Day of Resurrection, his wealth will be presented to him in the shape of a bald-headed poisonous male snake with two poisonous glands in its mouth and it will encircle itself round his neck and bite him over his cheeks and say, "I am your wealth; I am your treasure." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) recited this Divine Verse:-- "And let not those who covetously withhold of that which Allah has bestowed upon them of His Bounty." (3.180)
[Sahih al-Bukhari 4565]
Don’t think those who greedily withhold (charity) which Allah has granted them of His Bounty (wealth), it is good for them, but it is bad for them. They will be hung around their necks what they greedily withheld from their wealth on the Day of Resurrection. For Allah is the heritage of the heavens and the earth. Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do. [Quran 3:180]
