..."O my Lord! increase me in knowledge." [Quran 20 : 114]
Moses prayed, “My Lord! Uplift my heart for me,
and make my task easy,
and remove the impediment from my tongue
so people may understand my speech, [Quran 20 : 25 - 28]
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said, "He who does not acquire knowledge with the sole intention of seeking the Pleasure of Allah but for worldly gain, will not smell the fragrance of Jannah on the Day of Resurrection."
[Abu Dawud].
[Riyad as-Salihin 1391]
O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your deen.
Knowledge comes first.
The first and foremost knowledge that everyone should acquire is the knowledge of the
religion of Islam. If someone has earned a degree in medicine, engineering, law, etc., but
has not acquired knowledge of the religion of Islam, then they are equal to an ignorant
person.
The education of this world teaches us to go as far as the moon, but the education of the Quran teaches us to recognize the One who created the moon.
Your religion, your faith, your afterlife should be your number one priority.
Without it, you have nothing, education is incomplete without Islamic
knowledge. It is a great loss when someone spends their entire life pursuing worldly
education and dies without Islamic knowledge. One who runs after worldly education and
forgets the afterlife is like someone who, 'In search of silver (worldly gains), lost the
diamonds (the afterlife).' Real life is the life of the hereafter. O Allah, grant us knowledge
that leads to success in both worlds.
It is essential for every Muslim to acquire knowledge of the religion of Islam. You should
teach your children about the knowledge of Islam, because they become what you pour
into them.
If a child is not given a gift, they may cry for a while just like that, if they are not given
worldly knowledge, they will suffer in this life. And if they are not given the knowledge
of the religion of Islam, they will suffer in this worldly life and also in the eternal life of
the Hereafter, which will never end. Prepare yourself and your children for the life to
come.
Basics of Islam
Everyone must know the basics of Islam. The basics are the knowledge of 3 things.
What is Islam? Iman? and Ihsan? The best way to learn Islam, Iman, and Ihsan is with
Hadith e Jibreel.
Also on the authority of `Umar (ra) who said:
While we were one day sitting with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) there appeared before us a man dressed in extremely white clothes and with very black hair. No traces of journeying were visible on him, and none of us knew him. He sat down close by the Prophet (ﷺ) rested his knees against the knees of the Prophet (ﷺ) and placed his palms over his thighs, and said:
"O Muhammad! Inform me about Islam."
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied:

"Islam is that you should testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger (ﷺ), that you should perform salah (ritual prayer), pay the zakah, fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House (the Ka`bah at Makkah), if you can find a way to it (or find the means for making the journey to it)."
He said: "You have spoken the truth." We were astonished at his thus questioning him (ﷺ) and then telling him that he was right, but he went on to say, "Inform me about Iman (faith)." He (the Prophet) answered,
"It is that you believe in Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers and in the Last Day, and in fate (qadar), both in its good and in its evil aspects."
He said, "You have spoken the truth." Then he (the man) said, "Inform me about Ihsan." He (the Prophet) answered,
"It is that you should serve Allah as though you could see Him, for though you cannot see Him yet He sees you."
He said, "Inform me about the Hour." He (the Prophet) said,
"About that the one questioned knows no more than the questioner."
So he said, "Well, inform me about its signs." He said,
"They are that the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and that you will see the barefooted ones, the naked, the destitute, the herdsmen of the sheep (competing with each other) in raising lofty buildings."
Thereupon the man went off. I waited a while, and then he (the Prophet) said, "O `Umar, do you know who that questioner was?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know better." He said, "That was Jibril. He came to teach you your religion."

SubhanAllah. This is such a beautiful hadith. It touches upon almost every deed of Islam, and deals with inner and outer aspects of the worship of Allah.
There is a door called “Bab-e-Jibraeel (Door of Jibraeel)” at Masjid An-Nabawi in Madina. It is known as the door that Jibreel (as) came in to ask the Prophet (PBUH) these questions. Allah knows best.
